The 1st hilly race this year!!!

Hey guys

Yesterday I did a 32km race in Arbusiny, and it was the hardest race this year.
But I did very well in it because I am light so it is easier to go up the hills, but on the down hills it was harder because I am not as heavy as the other kids.
I think that we where about 73 in the race and I came about 13th.
On Friday my dad and I went and did a 68km bike ride, it was the best ride I have had this year so far.
We went to the other side of Geneva and had lunch in a small cafe, and I had the most amazing panini.
I hope you all wright back because I need a bit of encouragement.
Total this week: 132km.
Speak to you all next week.
Tom.

  1. Well done for doing well in the race and great to hear that you and your dad had a good ride together. 68km sounds a good ride to us. When we lived in Germany we used to take the train from our home in Cologne to Koblenz taking our bikes with us and then we would ride back again along the Rhine. It took us about four hours. Obviously, we were not as fit as you. Nowadays we only ride our bikes around Banbury but we do take them with us when we go camping in our old motor home and then we explore the surrounding countryside. Great pic of you on your bike.

  2. Hi Tom.
Well done yet again. The ride through Geneva sounds as though it was good fun. I hope the weather was OK too.
    Keep up the good work.
    Lots of Love,
    Grandma and Grandad.

  3. Hi Tom.
I'm writing in English again. My comments in French were helped by Google Translate. There are a few tricks that help produce something that actually makes sense but it works quite well just as it is. It's fun to translate something and then translate it back to see just how bad computers can be at this task. If I wanted to translate something really important, I'd ask you if you'd do it for me. It's here http://translate.google.com/ if you're interested.
I'm surprised that you found going downhill harder than riding uphill. I didn't think your weight would make any difference. If you start a race going downhill, you should try carrying a few water bottles and dispose of them before the uphill section. I can't think of a way to make you heavier halfway through a race.
I gather that you have a holiday in France this weekend. Does that mean that you have a week off from racing? I'm sure practice will keep you busy whatever.
All this talk of exercise and panini has made me hungry so I'm off to get something to eat.
    Take care,
    Andy.
