A Very Successful weekend!!!!

What a fantastic weekend! The weather was perfect, 28 deg - and I didn't fall either.
On saturday we went to Lyon for the Grand Prix de Lyon. I haven't been there before. It is a 333m exterior velodrome which I thought would be easy after the wall of death I am used to at Geneva (166m). But actually it was quite scary because the straights were long but the turns were very steep and very wide, and the track was surprisingly bumpy too. Nevertheless I got 3rd in the points race and then WON THE SCRATCH!!!! that was behind the little motorbike. Then they made me do a "Tour d'Honneur" which was brilliant as everyone was clapping and cheering. I won a nice bunch of flowers which mum was very pleased with!
Then yesterday I did the road race at St Genis Pouilly. All the top guys were there again same as at Bouvent ( last weeks race ) where I fell. 5 laps of 5.75km mostly flat ish but with a tough hill for the last 400m to the finish. After 1 lap I realised that there were just 3 of us in a group in front. Man, we were absolutely flying. I couldn't believe how fast we were going and how quickly we had left the others behind. I felt so good too. I was planning how to win the sprint at the end even though the other 2 guys were talking to each other and trying to drop me. They weren't in the same team but knew each other pretty well I think. Anyway they eventually caught me out on the last lap, and I think that my legs were just a bit tired from racing the previous day too.
So I got 3rd. In fact the 4th guy was about 5 mins behind us, and none of the Haute Savoie riders were anywhere near.

I was very pleased with that, and got a very nice trophy for 3rd.
My goal of Champion d'Haute Savoie is definitely possible.
And maybe even Rhone-Alpes.
