Hi guys
Well I am very sorry that I have not stayed in touch with you but it will not happen again.
So I was qualified for the Rhone-Alps championship which was just amazing, and it was in some place called Cize.
Dad looked on the computer and said 'Ok it is about an hour and a half away.'
The next day we jumped in the car and put the GPS on, and it said "it will take you an hour and a half to get to Cize."
So we went towards Cize and we started to go further North than we expected, then we found our selves going through Geneva???
But we said the GPS must be right and carried on and got to Cize; and it was not the right CIZE!!!!!
SO NEVER TRUST YOUR GPS!!!!!!
When we got home my dad and I went out on our bikes. We did Ballaison hill and dad said "wait a minute" he looked down on his computer and said "you did Ballaison hill in under 10min", I did 9min51sec. Yippee!!
Then the next day Tummus (my dad's friend) came over and we went for a 4h32min bike ride up col de cou back the down the other side and back up the back of col de saxel.
Last Thursday I did my 1st Tour de France "hors category" col, the Morzine-Avoriaz (which is where the Tour de France goes next sunday).
On Sunday I did a race and it was one of the best races I have done so far because I stayed in the peloton the whole time, there where 35 people in the race and I came 11th.
We quickly jumped in the car and drove towards Presilly but, incredibly, the GPS let us down again because it did not have the new autoroute in its database. Dad then did his Sunday race and even though he had a really good solo break he could not hold off the peloton, and eventually a team mate won the race.
There was a crash and someone's bike broke in two.
Total this week: 238km
Speak to you next week
I don't think I'd trust just my GPS. If I'm going somewhere important, I always check that I'm going in the right direction at least. I've heard of people driving into rivers and other equally stupid places. I guess they're not even looking out of the windows of their cars when they do that.
ReplyDeleteWe've just been watching the Morzine stage of the Tour de France. I gather you were there. We didn't see you because there were so many spectators.
Have you managed to keep up the training while you've been sailing? It's years since I've sailed. I can't say I enjoyed it, but that was because it was very, very cold. We did most of our sailing during the winter because the only one of my friends with a boat kept it in Cornwall during the summer. I think it might have been fun if it had been as hot as it's been near you recently. As it was, we had dry suits on and were still freezing.
Say 'Hi' to everyone and keep up the good work.
Take care,
Andy.
Hi Tom!
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't commented until now but I have been busy with GCSE's and internal exams. I went for a bike ride this morning with my dad and Lily, but they both ran. I found it really hard work! And that wasn't even a tiny fraction of the distances you are doing; but it's a start. You have officially inspired me to do more exercise!
Congratulations on coming 11th in the race you did, thats absolutely amazing!
My best friend and I are going on a 4-5 hour bike ride next week but I am sure that it will include plenty of stops, but a start to my exercise regime.
I will keep in touch and let you know if my friend and I collapse from tiredness on the way round!
Keep up the good work!
love Adele xxx
